The year of our Buddha 2560

Getting around town is like this for a week

On April 14th, 2017, new year celebrations for the year 2560 (Buddhist calendar) were held across Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand. This celebration, held at the end of the dry season before the new monsoon, traditionally involved sprinkling water on your fellow citizens as they walked past. Today, it has grown a little larger and it is probably easier to just show what happens to the streets of Luang Prabang:

To relax and dry off after a long day of celebrations, we took a ferry over to Cucumber Island, a temporary and soon to be flooded feature of the Mekong River to build a sand stupa.

  1. Hi Damo,

Awesome! Nuff said. How good was the super soaker water guns too? Just the tool for some feisty water hurling gear. Cool. Seriously, life is very staid and relaxed down under compared to that sort of fun.

    Cheers
